SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS OJT IN OSMENA

“This 20th day of November 2017, we started for our work immersion at barangay hall of Osmeña, Solano, Nueva Vizcaya. The word “immersion” as it applies to the K to 12 curriculums is defined in the Department of Education) Order No. 40, series of 2015”, said the Senior High School students of the Solano High School when asked about their on the job training.
Work Immersion refers to the part of the Senior High School (SHS) Curriculum consisting of 80 hours of hands-on experience or work simulation which the Grades 11 and 12 students will undergo to expose them to the actual workplace setting and to enrich the competencies provided by the school under the supervision of the School Head and the designated personnel of the Partner. Immersion is done outside the school campus in a “Workplace Immersion Venue,” defined as “the place where work immersion of students is done.
According to Deped Secretary Leonor Briones, the work immersion is a key feature in the senior high school curriculum. It can be conducted in different ways depending on the purposes and needs of the learners. . Examples of work immersion venues include offices, factories, shops and project sites.
The students who have been deployed to Barangay Osmeña are Jason Lee P. Macadangdang, Kimberly T. De Vera, Kimberleen P. Benitez, Diana Rose Damo and John Oliver Daileg, students of Solano High School under the General Academic Strand together with Conrado V. Gaña, Michael T. Benicta and Jillian P. Perez who are under the (TVL) Computer System Servicing.
Further, the students said “Experience gives us the tests first and lessons later. With this activity that we joined for the first time we fully understand why it was called immersion. It was to throw or absorb ourselves into the situation of others. This was my very first time, in the first day of this immersion we feel so nervous and asking ourselves if we could finish this, could we make our task on time, but yet, we motivate ourselves to be positive whatever task assign to us.”
They also added, “Our barangay is a peaceful and joyful place, where we can see the people who are very hospitable. A place where we can create memories and would never forget it. The Punong Barangay who is Hon. Danilo E. Domingo along with the Barangay Officials are the best kind of people to live with. Working with these kind of persons make ourselves more knowledgable because they always guide us, inspire us and most of all, let us enjoy what we are doing. We have learned a lot of things such as what Hon. Juanita A. Bangloy said that we should always start our day with a prayer and whatever we do, praying should not be forgotten. Madam Crisanta Olivia Baniqued, the Child Development Worker here in our beloved barangay gives us tasks such as making of visual aids and drawing of different things. We have realized that being a teacher is not easy because you should always provide the needs of your beloved students. We are proud of Madam Crisanta because she is the only Child Development Worker here in our barangay and we can see her dedication to share her knowledge to her students. We also learned community engagement here in our barangay, people here are working together as one family, true to the saying, "One for all, all for one" just to serve our fellow citizens. We, students of Solano High School always put ourselves in their shoes because we always appreciate even little things that they do and share. Their efforts are worth it because everyday, we are absorbing or learning all of the lessons that they share to us. We will take this opportunity to give our warm thanks to our beloved Punong Barangay Hon. Danilo E. Domingo together with his barangay officials for their kindness and hospitality towards us and we are proud to say that we enjoy staying here in our barangay.”
